iChoupal Rendezvous: A place to meet friends
It is a self-perpetuating concept for promoting communal well-being.
Chaupal (Hindi: चौपाल) is a community space for people to meet, i.e. rendezvous (pronounced as run-they-who).
Aim: To meet friends on a semi-regular basis, just for the joy of it.
Objectives:
1. To designate spaces where friends can meet on a semi-regular basis.
2. To keep the initiative self-perpetuating, so that it can expand as needed.
3. To keep it free of formal structures (committees etc.), as far as possible.
Operation:
1. Two or more friends decide to meet semi-regularly
2. They select a nominal coordinator
3. They select a meeting place and time
4. They inform NRISA, so that it can be listed on the iChoupal Rendezvous page of the NRISA.ORG website. http://www.nrisa.org/ichoupal-rendezvous.html
5. They spread the word though the local community
Guidelines:
1. The chosen space should be communal, e.g. a coffee shop in a shopping center, or a free community hall with facility for making own tea coffee.
2. No regular funding be required for running the local iChoupal Rendezvous.
3. Meetings be used for joyful activities, e.g. chit-chat, sharing personal stories, offering sweets to friends on special occasions etc.
4. No controversial activities, e.g. political canvassing, religious indoctrination etc.
