NRISA Constitution
The NRISA Constitution follows the Incorporated association Model Rules specified by Consumer Affairs Victoria, with the following changes.
Approved resolutions at the NRISA AGM held on Sunday 21 October 2018 at
Bent St, Northcote.
(Number of members present 68; Members with voting rights present 59)
Resolution 1: NRISA Member class and fees
The NRISA executive committee proposed introduction of two classes of
membership effective January 2019.
1. Life Member: will continue as at present (i.e. one off fees of $50).
2. Member: with a fee of $10 per year, to be paid at the start of each calendar
year.
Each member class will have the same voting rights and privileges.
Currently, NRISA is having life membership at a fee of $50 and ordinary membership
at fees of $0 (with no voting rights). Effective 2019, the ordinary membership class
will be discontinued. Membership is required for insurance cover. NRISA subsidizes
most of the functions (including lunch /refreshments). Occasional personal guest(s)
will always be welcome to NRISA.
The above motion was carried unanimously
Resolution 2: RULES applicable to the filling of the Office Bearer positions.
1. An elected member can serve as President for a maximum of two consecutive
years. There must be a minimum gap of one year before standing again for the
President’s position.
2. To stand for the election of an Office Bearer position (President, Vice-
President, Treasurer and Secretary) a member must have served on the
Committee for at least one year in the preceding three years.
Any temporary interim changes to the above, if needed for the duration till the next
AGM, must be approved by at least two thirds of the existing ‘Elected-only
Committee’ members. Written records of these approvals must be created and
maintained.
This motion was carried with 32 in favour, 5 against and rest preferred not to express
their opinion.
